Another nice bit of “bling” from Joker Machine – a Triumph Choke Knob Union Jack 900 Clear.
The Triumph stock choke knob is a pretty serious cheap piece of plastic, so the Joker Machine bit is a nice way of upgrading it. In fact, they have many options to choose from. The one Bryan sent me is engraved with the British Union Jack and “900”. The “900” is meant for the Thruxton but hey, I’m not going to complain. It’s a well machined piece of knob.
This is a mod that requires nothing more than unscrewing off the stock knob and replacing it with the Joker knob. The one issue I had, however, is that the plastic “neck” of the stock knob is the same outer diameter of the tightening nut and therefore, I couldn’t use an open end or crescent wrench to grip and loosen it. I ended up having to use a pair of pliers which chewed up the end a bit. It didn’t really matter, however, as I wasn’t planning to reuse it.
Once you have it off, take the Joker knob, apply a bit of Threadlocker Blue to the thread, and screw it into the choke assembly. Easy peasy, easiest mod yet.
It’s a very cool little piece of bling and has a MUCH nicer tactile feel to it than the cheapo plastic. It’s the little things that count.
Now, what to do about the chintzy piece of pressed piece of sheet metal acting as the slider…
